It was a sitcom that started like many others; an adorable couple in love at the centre of it, surrounded by a cast of family and close friends, each with their own quirks.
I watched the first episode out of curiosity; I wasn’t sure if I would like it or not. Once I did watch it, I set my DVR to record the series automatically. I had fallen in love with ‘The New Normal’.
The nonchalant kissing between the adorable couple and the on-screen affectionate touching and hugging melted me inside. It also amazed me. You see, I hadn’t thought India was ready for a show like this because this is the couple in question.
For once, though, I was happy to be wrong.
Sadly, my initial thoughts were proven to be correct. Four shows in, Star World suddenly – and without warning – cancelled the series, hurriedly replacing it with ‘How I Met Your Mother’.
I mourned. India is all that. Indians are predictably narrow-minded, archaic, and ridiculous. I now have to miss out on a great show just because somebody, somewhere, couldn’t handle the reality of gay love.
Why am I even still living here?
Because you can’t afford to move here yet.
Somebody publish me already! *shakes fist at the skies*
