I find it difficult to like people who flaunt their intellectual superiority.
I don’t actually care that your IQ is off the charts. I don’t care that you’re a bona fide certified genius. I don’t care that you can reel facts off the top of your head, that you can do maths in seconds, and that you know what the chemical properties of something is. I don’t care that you know twenty two programming languages. I don’t care if you can speak in PERL.
When you start using your abilities to make fun of people who aren’t as smart as you are, and when you start preening around and calling people names like ‘idiot’ and ‘dumb’ and ‘retarded’, I see you for who you really are.
When you start thinking that you’re somehow better than everyone else, please know that you’re not. You’re less.
You are insignificant, and you don’t matter very much in my world. You are incapable of being nice. Kindness is only a word to you.
For me, the true indication of who you are as a person is the way you treat people who are not as smart as you are. In my books, you aren’t really that smart at all, because you failed Humanity.
It’s oft said, there’s a significant difference between intelligence and wisdom.
Hear, hear.
